Orthotics, insoles and shoe inserts

Scholl Orthaheel orthotics come in Regular, Sports, Shock Absorber and Workforce styles, from extra small to extra large. In-Balance insoles target the arch, heel, knee to heel or lower back, in sizes 4.5 to 11. GelActiv insoles cover work, everyday and sport for men and women, plus women's styles for heels, flats and open shoes. Smaller inserts include gel heel cups, arch supports and Party Feet cushions. Healthdirect lists heel pads or arch supports (orthotics) in your shoes among self-care steps for plantar fasciitis.

Heel balm, hard skin and nail care

Eulactol Heel Balm Gold comes in several sizes up to 200g, plus a twin pack. Velvet Smooth electronic foot files, including a rechargeable Wet & Dry model, take replaceable roller heads from gentle to ultra coarse. Should I wear Scholl Flight Socks on a long flight?

For trips of several hours on planes or trains, Healthdirect suggests getting up to walk every 1 or 2 hours, doing calf stretches or heel lifts, drinking plenty of water, and wearing compression stockings if you have other risk factors for deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
