Slide sheets and positioning aids
A slide sheet is a low friction fabric that lets a carer move a person up the bed, turn them or reposition them without lifting their weight. The Slide Sheets & Positioning range at Allcare Warehouse covers nylon slide sheets, the WendyLett sheet system, one way slides for chairs and wheelchairs, and small aids such as a foot stool and anti slip mat. Products are shown without prices, so call 1300 767 777 or visit our Liverpool showroom to see how they work.

How a slide sheet works
Our Slide Sheet is nylon and is used folded: it goes under the person, and the top layer slides over the lower layer, so the person moves with very little friction. It is 1500mm long. The WendyLett system works differently: a base sheet stays on the bed, and a draw sheet on top is used to make each move.
WendyLett sheets for turning in bed
- WendyLett Base Sheet: a satin sliding sheet with a smooth centre for turning and anti-slip sides that help stop the person sliding off the side or down the bed.
- WendyLett 2 Way Sheet: a draw sheet used with the base sheet to turn the person sideways, in the direction of the stripes.
- WendyLett 4 Way Sheet: a draw sheet with a checked pattern for moves in any direction, such as turning or moving higher up the bed. Its description states it can sit on a pressure-relieving mattress without compromising the mattress.
- Top Sheet: an absorbent two part sheet placed over a friction reducing sheet, with a waterproof membrane underneath, for people who need turning often.
One way slide for chair positioning
A one way slide is a mat that grips in one direction and slides in the other. It stops the person slipping forward in a chair or wheelchair, while letting them slide back into a better position. The One Way Slide has straps to attach it to a wheelchair and six draw straps, so a carer can help without pulling on the person. The tubular version suits a more active person.
Other patient positioning aids
The Foot Stool supports the feet during a sitting transfer and is often used with a sliding board. The Anti Slip Mat gives the feet grip when the person pushes themselves up the bed. For longer moves between two surfaces, our Transfer Aids range has transfer boards and sliding mats.
Using slide sheets safely at home
Moving a person is still physical work. Safe Work Australia counts moving or holding a person among its hazardous manual tasks. Ask the person's physiotherapist or occupational therapist to show you the technique for each move, and use two carers where that is advised. Our article on bed mobility equipment covers related aids, and if you are setting up a room, see home care beds and bed accessories. They sit within our wider patient handling range, and you can see them at our Liverpool showroom.
