Medical scales
The medical scales here run from chair scales for people who cannot stand steadily to slim bathroom scales that send readings to an app. All eight sit in our medical and diagnostics section and come from Care Quip, Rossmax and BodiSure.

Chair scales for care settings
The Healthweigh Chair Scales have a contoured seat, folding armrests and footrest, swivel castors and movement compensation, and weigh in 0.1kg steps up to 300kg. The Bariatric Chair Scale is a heavy duty model, also rated to 300kg, with hinged footrests and armrests to make transfers easier. Both calculate body mass index and connect to a printer, which is optional on the Healthweigh.
Bariatric scales and flat scales
Among the bariatric scales, the Seca Bariatric Flat Scales have an extra wide platform with a non-slip rubber coating and weigh up to 200kg. The Seca Flat Scales take up to 250kg and have a mother and child function: the adult's weight is set to zero at the touch of a button, so the scale can weigh a child being held.
Bathroom scales with apps
- ROSSMAX Digital Scale 180kg: four sensors, auto-on and a large LCD.
- ROSSMAX Digital Bluetooth Scale 150kg: links to the Rossmax Healthstyle app and estimates body fat, muscle, visceral fat, BMI and basal metabolic rate.
- BodiSure BWS100 Weight Scale: tempered safety glass with an LED display, up to 180kg.
- BodiSure Body Composition Scales: the BBC100 reports 13 body composition measures through the Feelfit app. BodiSure states it is not a therapeutic device and its readings are not a basis for diagnosis or treatment.
To track other readings at home, see our blood pressure monitors.
Frequently asked questions
Which scale suits someone who uses a wheelchair?
None of the listings describe a platform that a wheelchair rolls onto. For someone who can move across onto a seat, a chair scale is the closest option. For anything else, call 1300 767 777 or email [email protected] to ask before ordering.
Do these scales run on batteries or mains power?
The two Seca scales are battery powered, and the BodiSure Body Composition Scales take four AAA batteries. The Healthweigh Chair Scales have a rechargeable battery, and the Bariatric Chair Scale has an internal rechargeable pack that Care Quip rates at 80 hours of continuous weighing. The Rossmax listings do not state a power source.
Can the scales show pounds as well as kilograms?
Yes, on most of them. The Seca, BodiSure and Healthweigh listings all include a kg and lb option. The two Rossmax listings give weight limits and 100g graduations in kilograms but do not mention a pounds setting, so check if that matters to you.
