Ice pack wraps for hot and cold therapy

Allcare Warehouse stocks the Wrap on Ice range, a reusable ice pack wrap that can be used for cold or hot therapy. Each gel pack is flexible, so it shapes around the body, and the strapped versions hold the pack in place hands-free. There are three products in this category: the Wrap on Ice Gel pack on its own, and the Wrap on Ice with Strap in Mini and Adult sizes. Call 1300 767 777 to check a product before you visit.

The Wrap on Ice range

  • Wrap on Ice with Strap, Adult: a gel pack with a compression strap. Its description lists ankles, calves, quadriceps, hamstrings, knees, shoulders, wrists, elbows and back as areas it can be fitted to.
  • Wrap on Ice with Strap, Mini: the same strapped design in a smaller size.
  • Wrap on Ice Gel pack: the flexible gel pack without a strap.

All three are described as non toxic and reusable.

Using a hot cold pack safely

Healthdirect's advice for sprains and strains is to put a cold compress or ice pack on the injury for 20 minutes at a time, several times a day, and not to put ice directly on your skin. Its knee pain page gives similar advice for a knee injury: an ice pack for up to 20 minutes every 2 to 3 hours. Follow the cooling and heating instructions supplied with your hot cold pack.

An ice pack does not replace medical advice. Healthdirect recommends seeing a doctor if an injury causes a lot of pain, you are not sure whether a bone is broken, or it is not getting better within a week. A GP or physiotherapist can assess it and advise on what to do next.

Heat wrap and other options

Because the Wrap on Ice range is listed for hot therapy as well as cold, one strapped ice pack wrap can also serve as a heat wrap. If you need a different shape or size, the MY Hot/Cold Reusable Gel Pack, with or without an adjustable strap, and Dencorub heat patches sit in the Muscle & Joint Relief range within our supports and braces. For support once an injury has been assessed, see knee braces, ankle supports and wrist supports. To compare the two strap sizes, visit the Liverpool showroom.

Frequently asked questions

Can the same pack be used hot and cold?
Yes. The Wrap on Ice products are described as multi-purpose, for cold and hot therapy. Follow the instructions supplied with the pack for cooling and warming it.
Which size should I choose?
The Mini is the smaller of the two strapped wraps, and the Adult is the larger. If you are unsure which suits the area you want to cover, call 1300 767 777 or visit the Liverpool showroom and ask to compare them.
Is an ice pack wrap enough for a sprain?
Not always. An ice pack is one part of caring for a sprain, so see a doctor or physiotherapist if the pain is severe or the injury is not improving. A physiotherapist may also suggest bracing or taping for a few weeks.
