A companion bed is a stationary bed made to sit beside an electric home care bed, so a partner, parent or carer can sleep alongside the person who uses it. Static partner beds
The Icare Companion has a timber frame with no moving parts at all, and Icare describes it as made to sit next to any Icare homecare bed.
The IC100 Static Partner Bed is a heavier, hospital grade frame with a fixed mattress platform. It carries a higher weight rating than the Companion, at 200kg, with a base height of 355mm, 175mm of clearance under the bed and lockable castor wheels. It also takes all Icare bed rails and accessories.
Planning a partner set-up
Icare says any of its beds can be made up for couples to sleep side by side with no gap between mattresses. The set-up is chosen in three steps:
- Pick the bed model for each partner. The two sides do not have to match.
- Pick the size: long single or king single.
- Pick which side each partner sleeps on.

Frequently asked questions
Does a companion bed raise or tilt?
No. The Icare Companion is completely stationary and the IC100 has a static mattress platform, so neither raises, lowers or profiles. The IC100's castors let it be rolled into place and then locked. If the second sleeper also needs a bed that adjusts, choose a second home care bed for that side of the set-up instead.
Is a mattress included with a companion bed?
The listings for the Icare Companion and the IC100 do not say that a mattress comes with the frame, so ask when you order. Mattresses are listed separately in our mattresses range, and the long single or king single size you choose for the set-up decides which one fits.
Can a companion bed sit next to another brand of care bed?
Icare describes both static beds as made to pair with Icare beds, and the IC100 takes Icare bed rails. The listings do not cover other brands. If you already own a care bed from another maker, call 1300 767 777 or email [email protected] with its make and model before ordering.
