Bath boards
A bath board rests across the rim of the bath and gives you a firm seat to sit on before you lift your legs over to wash. Allcare Warehouse lists four Care Quip bath boards in its bathroom aids range, each with adjustable feet made to suit most baths. Call 1300 767 777 or visit the Liverpool showroom to talk through which one fits your bathroom.

Comparing the four bath boards
- Cosby Bathboard: a contoured, channelled seat reinforced with exterior grade plywood, 710mm wide and 290mm deep, for users up to 180kg. Made in England.
- Kingfisher Bathboard: 690mm by 330mm and rated to 200kg, with a soap dish, a removable grab rail and large feet that swivel 360° and lock in place with suction cups.
- Plastic Bathboard, 680mm: wider at one end to help with transfers, with a soap dish and removable grab rail, for users up to 150kg.
- Plastic Bathboard, 780mm: the widest seat here, with an adjustable grab rail and a built-in holder for a hand shower, rated to 100kg.
Every board has slots, channels or holes that let water drain off the seat. The maximum user weight is the figure to check first, since it runs from 100kg to 200kg across the four.
Other bath and shower aids
Healthdirect's falls advice includes fitting handrails or a seat in the bath or shower to cut the risk of slipping. If lifting your legs over the bath wall is the hard part, a transfer bench sits across the bath edge with legs inside and outside the tub. Fixed grab rails are in our rails range, and our grab rail guide covers where to put them.
Frequently asked questions
Will a bath board fit my bath?
The adjustable feet are made to suit most baths, not every bath. Before you order, measure across the top of your bath from the outside of one rim to the outside of the other and compare it with the board widths, which run from 690mm to 780mm. If your bath is unusually wide, narrow or shaped, call 1300 767 777 to check.
Can I use a bath board with a hand shower?
Yes. A bath board gives you somewhere to sit while you wash, and the 780mm Plastic Bathboard has a holder that keeps a hand shower within reach. The Kingfisher and the 680mm Plastic Bathboard have a soap dish moulded into the seat, so you do not need to lean out of the bath for soap.
Can the NDIS fund a bath board?
On its page about low-cost assistive technology, the NDIS names bathing and toileting support items, for example a shower chair, a hand shower or a handrail. Whether a bath board is funded for you depends on your plan and what the NDIA approves. Our NDIS page explains how ordering works when you use NDIS funding.
