iCare pressure care mattresses and overlays

Each iCare mattress carries a risk category, which iCare bases on average peak pressure, therapist recommendation, case studies, industry comparison and the Waterlow scale. ActiveX foam softens as it warms: IC15 is firm, IC20 medium, IC25 soft for people who spend long periods in bed, and IC30 gel-infused with a firm edge. The M1 to M4 medical mattresses, the low risk Latex mattress and the VersaFlo3 alternating air mattress complete the range. For a mattress already in use, the overlays range has ActiveX, ActiveFloat and XP Support Firm overlays. Healthdirect notes that pressure ulcer treatment may involve changing position regularly or using a special cushion or mattress.

HydroSense and ThermoPad temperature control

The HydroSense system unit changes water temperature and pumps it through a compatible accessory, which is bought separately. Accessories include mattress, medium and small pads, lumbar and pelvic straps, a back and shoulder vest, a head and limb wrap and a foot and leg cuff, and a splitter runs two from one unit. Without a pump, the ThermoPad Bed overlay and ThermoPad Seat use gel-infused ActiveX with an embedded cooling gel pad to lower body temperature.

iCare pillows, cushions and bedding

iCare Classic, Contour, Curve and Cloud pillows have ActiveX or visco elastic cores, and the Conform pillow adjusts in layers. Our pillows and cushions range adds coccyx, donut, knee, back and seat cushions, a posture wedge, lumbar roll and bed wedge. Adjustable bed sheet sets are 1000 thread count cotton sateen, and mattress protection includes protectors, enclosed covers and washable absorbent bed and chair pads.

Frequently asked questions

Which iCare accessories help with getting in and out of bed?

The bed accessories range has three. The Bed Stick slides onto the side of the bed and can sit anywhere along the left or right side. The U-Assist Side Rail is a slim rail with multiple grip points. The Over Bed Pole is a free standing pull-up bar with an adjustable handle height, made to help with turning and transfers.

Do iCare mattresses suit heavier users?

The M1 Medical Mattress is the bariatric option in the range. iCare rates it medium risk with a firm feel and says it can support a user weight of up to 300kg, with a lateral cut design for stability during transfers. Other models list lower limits, such as 220kg for the Latex mattress.

Are there iCare covers suited to care facilities?

Zerotec medical grade covers are fully wipeable PVC with welded seams and a drip cover over the zip, made for homes or facilities where infection control is required. They fit 15cm and 20cm mattresses and 5cm overlays. The Fibre Med pillow also has a wipeable, 100% liquid proof cover and is designed for nursing care facilities.
