Lift chairs and care seating

A lift chair is an electric recliner with a rise function that brings the person up towards standing, which can make getting out of a chair easier. At Allcare Warehouse, the Lift Chairs & Care Seating range also includes mobile care chairs for people who spend long periods seated, orthopaedic chairs with adjustable seat height, and perching stools. Not every chair here lifts, so this page sorts them by what each description states. Products are shown without prices, so call 1300 767 777 or visit our Liverpool showroom.

Electric lift recliner chairs

These chairs use a hand held controller, and their descriptions state a rise or lift function as well as recline:

  • Aircomfort Chair: single or dual motor, with an air pressure system in the backrest, seat and legrest and a wall saver mechanism. Stated maximum user weight 140kg.
  • Comforter Chair: Wide (twin motors, 225kg) and Extra Wide (triple motor construction, 315kg), both with reinforced frames for bariatric users.
  • Capri and Petite: a legrest synchronised with the backrest. Stated maximum user weights are 145kg and 135kg.
  • Derwent, Manor and Monarch: waterfall or seamed backrests with full chaise pads. Stated maximum user weights are 150kg, 130kg and 130kg.

The Relaxer Chair is a recliner that tilts back to a Trendelenburg position, where the feet sit higher than the head. Its description does not mention a rise function, so treat it as a powered recliner rather than a lift chair.

Care chair options for long periods of sitting

A care chair here means a mobile tilt or recline chair for a person who relies on carers and is seated for much of the day. The V2 Deluxe, X6 Deluxe and Shoalhaven Chair/Beds recline into several sitting and lying positions and have push handles for the carer. The X6 and Shoalhaven are described as designed for use with standing machines and transfer hoists; see Patient Hoists & Slings.

Orthopaedic chairs

The Hunter, Hunter Wide, Euro and Macquarie are orthopaedic chairs with adjustable seat height. The Hunter models are low back for dining and household tasks; the Euro and Macquarie are high back. The Hunter Wide and Euro have reinforced frames for bariatric users. Their descriptions do not mention a rise function.

Perching stool for kitchen and bench tasks

A perching stool lets a person work at a bench while half sitting. We stock two, the Perching Stool and the Perching Stool With Arms. Both are height adjustable from 550 to 700mm with a padded seat and backrest, and the Perching Stool With Arms adds arm supports that assist transfers. The stated maximum user weight is 100kg. Our kitchen aids pair well with one.

Accessories and seat cushions

The Universal Tray straps to chair armrests, the Footrest Padded supports the feet, and the Legrest adjusts in height and angle. For extra seating support, see our seat cushions. The Flexi Move Long and Mini Stretcher listed here are transfer boards; more are in Transfer Aids.

Choosing the right chair

Before you choose, check the space around the chair if it reclines. An occupational therapist can advise for someone with posture or pressure care needs, and the NDIS explains the role of assistive technology advisors. You can see chairs at our Liverpool showroom, and the wider patient handling range covers transfers and hoists.

Frequently asked questions

Which chairs in this range are lift chairs?
The chairs whose descriptions state a rise or lift function: the Aircomfort (single and dual motor), Comforter Wide and Extra Wide, Capri, Petite, Derwent, Manor and Monarch. The Relaxer reclines but its description does not mention rising. The orthopaedic chairs, chair/beds and perching stools are care seating.
How do I choose the right size lift chair?
Compare the person's height and weight with each chair's listed seat width, seat height and maximum user weight. The Petite is compact, and the Comforter Wide and Extra Wide suit bariatric users. If you are unsure, call 1300 767 777 with the person's measurements.
Can I buy a lift chair with NDIS funding?
Allcare Warehouse is a registered NDIS provider, and we supply lift chairs to participants on self-managed, plan-managed and NDIA-managed plans. Whether a chair is covered depends on your plan and the NDIA's decision, not on Allcare. Call 1300 767 777 to talk about ordering against your plan.
