Daily Living Aids

Daily living aids are simple tools that make everyday tasks easier when grip, reach, balance or memory make them harder. Allcare Warehouse stocks daily living aids for eating, dressing, reaching, managing tablets and calling for help, for people living at home and the carers who support them. Many are small items that solve one problem well, such as a jar that will not open or a sock that is hard to reach. Start with the task that has become a struggle, then browse the matching range below.

Independent living aids by everyday task

The range is grouped by the job each item helps with, so you can go straight to the right shelf.

Eating and preparing food

Our eating and kitchen aids include adaptive cutlery with built-up or angled handles, two-handled mugs, plate surrounds, jar openers and kettle tippers. They suit people with a weak grip, a tremor or the use of one hand.

Dressing and grooming

Our dressing aids cut down the bending and reaching that getting ready usually needs. The range includes stocking aids, a button hook, long handled shoe horns, long handled combs and a leg lifter.

Reaching and household tasks

The reachers and household aids range covers pick-up reachers, tap turners, a key turner, magnifiers, book rests and easy-grip scissors, plus hair washing trays for use in bed or at the sink.

Managing medication

Our pill organisers include one day and seven day pill boxes, versions with separate morning and evening compartments, and a pill cutter.

Personal alarms and falls alerts

The personal alarms range includes the Spacetalk Life wearable, which its maker lists with SOS, fall detection and GPS location, plus Spacetalk watches for children and bed, chair and floor alarm pads that alert a carer. Allcare Warehouse supplies these products and does not monitor alarms.

Equipment for care facilities

This category also holds equipment for clinics and aged care homes, including medication and procedure carts. Our Respiratory Aid and Sleeping Aid ranges also sit within Daily Living Aids.

Aids for elderly people living at home

For older Australians, assistive products are available through the Assistive Technology and Home Modifications (AT-HM) scheme, which needs an assessment through My Aged Care. If you are not sure what would help, an occupational therapist can help you find and use equipment that supports your independence. Allcare Warehouse does not provide assessments, but we can show you the products they recommend.

Daily living aids and NDIS funding

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) describes low-cost assistive technology as items you can usually buy from a store, and lists modified eating utensils and screen magnifiers among its examples. Whether an item is funded depends on your plan, and those decisions are made by the NDIA. Allcare Warehouse is a registered NDIS provider and supplies participants whose plans are self-managed, plan-managed or NDIA-managed. For more detail, read our NDIS daily living aids guide.
