How Spacetalk Kids works
Parents set up the watch through the Spacetalk smartphone app. From there they choose the approved contacts their child can call and take calls from. While the child wears it, a parent can see where the watch is on their own phone. If the child needs help, an SOS alert can be customised to call a parent and other guardians.
Choosing a colour and network
Spacetalk Kids comes in Pink, Grey and Teal. Each colour is offered in two network versions, one tuned for Telstra (model IF-W515C) and one for Vodafone (model IF-W525C). Pick the version that matches the SIM card your child will use, and say which network you want when ordering. If you would rather not be tied to one network, the Spacetalk Adventurer is designed to run on any Australian mobile operator.
Charging and screen protector kits
- Spacetalk Kids Charging Kit: a magnetically coupled charging dock and a USB cable, useful as a spare for a second home.
- Spacetalk Kids Screen Protector Kit: two screen protectors, a wet and dry wipe and a soft cleaning cloth to guard the screen against grit and scratches.
Frequently asked questions
What else is needed to use Spacetalk Kids?
The watch needs its own SIM card, and Spacetalk publishes a list of recommended SIM providers. The Spacetalk app also needs a subscription, which covers either up to two watches or up to five, so one plan can cover siblings. Both are arranged separately from the watch itself.
Do Spacetalk Kids accessories fit other Spacetalk watches?
No. Spacetalk states that the Kids charging kit and screen protector kit are made purely for the Spacetalk Kids watch and are not compatible with its other models. The Adventurer has its own charging stand, screen protector kit and band, listed in the Adventurer range.
