Adventurer features
Spacetalk describes the Adventurer as its newer all-in-one wearable and lists these features:
- a 5MP camera
- an improved battery
- a heart rate monitor
- Bluetooth connectivity
- IP67 water resistance
According to the maker, it works with all mobile network operators in Australia and New Zealand, virtual operators included, so the family can keep its existing provider. The watch comes in Cloud, Coral, Ocean, Mist and Midnight.
Adventurer accessories
Three accessories are made for this model. The Spacetalk Adventurer Charging Stand Kit holds a magnetically coupled stand and a USB cable, handy as a second charger for sleepovers or a grandparent's house. The Spacetalk Adventurer Screen Protector Kit has two protectors plus wet and dry wipes. The Spacetalk Adventurer Band Strap is a silicone band with loopholes and a fastener in place of a metal clasp. Spacetalk says none of them fit its other watch models.
Adventurer or Spacetalk Kids?
Both are phone and GPS tracker watches for children. The main practical difference is the network: each Spacetalk Kids watch is built for either Telstra or Vodafone, while the Adventurer is designed to run on any Australian operator. The camera, heart rate monitor, Bluetooth and water resistance rating are listed for the Adventurer and are not mentioned in the Kids listing, so check the maker's details if one of those features matters to you.
Frequently asked questions
What does the Adventurer need before it works?
It needs a Nano SIM card with calls, SMS and data, and a Spacetalk in-app subscription. One subscription covers either up to two watches or up to five, which suits families with more than one child. The SIM and subscription are organised apart from the watch itself, and Spacetalk names the SIM providers it recommends.
Will sending photos from the Adventurer cost extra?
It depends on the SIM plan. Spacetalk notes that some providers charge for MMS messages on top of the basic plan. Its advice is to use the Chat message function in the app to send and receive photos and other media between devices, which avoids those MMS charges.
Will the replacement band fit my child's wrist?
The Spacetalk Adventurer Band Strap fits wrists from 125mm to 185mm in circumference. Measure around your child's wrist with a soft tape before ordering. The band comes in four colours, Midnight, Ocean, Coral and Mist, and each kit contains one band.
