Welcare digital thermometers

Three models in our medical thermometers range take oral, rectal or underarm readings, with a jumbo screen, a fever alarm and a memory of the last reading. The Standard WDT404 has a rigid tip. The Deluxe WDT505 and Ultimate WDT303 have a flexible tip, and the Ultimate adds a backlit screen.

The Welcare Spacer

The Welcare Spacer fits any regular MDI (puffer), has an anti-static design and comes with both an adult and a child mask. It is free of BPA, latex and phthalates. Replacement adult and child masks are sold separately in our respiratory and oxygen range. Healthdirect explains that inhalers can be used with a spacer to make the medicine easier to take.

Bedwetting alarm and sleep sounds

The Stay-Dry Children's Upper Arm Bedwetting Alarm is for ages 5 and over. A moisture sensitive sensor sets off an alarm unit worn on an adjustable arm band, and the kit includes a progress chart and stickers. A replacement WBA100 sensor clip cord fits the V2 model. Both are in our children's continence products. The Sleep-Tight Sleep Sound Machine, in our sleep masks and sound machines, plays white noise, nature sounds, four lullabies and a recording of the mother's own heartbeat.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a bedwetting alarm take to work?

Healthdirect says alarm therapy is the most effective treatment for bedwetting in children older than 6, and that it takes 6 to 8 weeks for an alarm to work. Both parent and child need to be motivated, and nappies or pull-ups cannot be worn while the alarm is in use.

Does the Stay-Dry alarm have to make a noise?

No. Besides the sound mode there is a vibration only mode, so a child can be woken without the whole house hearing it. The unit also has an LED light indicator, and its battery recharges with the supplied USB cable, so there are no batteries to replace.

Can the Sleep-Tight machine travel with us?

Yes. Welcare describes it as fully portable and suggests taking it in the pram, so a baby or child has familiar sounds wherever they sleep. It has a hanging strap, seven volume levels including mute, and a low battery indicator, and runs on three AA batteries.
