Karicare infant and follow-on formula

Karicare labels its tins by stage: stage 1 from birth to 6 months and stage 2 from 6 to 12 months, which matches the stages described by Pregnancy, Birth and Baby. The same source notes that you don't have to change to a follow-on formula and can keep using your current infant formula. Both stages come in several types: the standard Karicare range, Gold+, Gold Plus+ Organic made with certified organic New Zealand milk, and A2 Protein Milk from cows chosen to produce only the A2 type beta casein protein. Goat Milk and Sheep Milk versions are also listed for stages 1 and 2.

Toddler and junior milk drinks

Stage 3 toddler milk drinks are listed from 12 months in the standard, Gold+, Organic, A2, goat and sheep milk types. For older children, Karicare 4 Toddler Milk Drink and Karicare Gold+ 4 Junior Milk Drink are listed from 2 years. Pregnancy, Birth and Baby says healthy children over 12 months don't need formula and should be eating a variety of solid foods.

Frequently asked questions

Should I use Karicare Soy formula?

Only if your doctor recommends it. Pregnancy, Birth and Baby advises not giving a baby soy-based formula unless a doctor has recommended it. Karicare Soy is a dairy-free formula made with non-GMO soy proteins, listed from birth to 12 months, and Karicare notes that for cows' milk allergy it is usually only recommended over 6 months.

Does Karicare come in sachets?

Yes, three sachet packs are listed: stage 1 infant formula in a pack of 5, stage 2 follow-on formula in a pack of 4, and stage 3 toddler milk drink in a pack of 4. Karicare describes the sachets as a useful way to try its formula and see if it suits your child, and as handy for feeding on the go.

Can I recycle Karicare tins?

Karicare says its formula and toddler milk drink tins, including the lid and scoop, are recyclable, and can go into your home recycling bin once empty.
