TENS machines and pelvic floor devices

Allcare Warehouse stocks TENS machines from Omron and TensCare, TensCare pelvic floor trainers, and the spare pads, leads, probes and chargers they use. A TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) machine is a battery-powered unit that sends small electrical currents through the skin via electrode pads. Whether a device suits you is a question for your GP, physiotherapist or continence professional, so speak with them before you choose. Products are shown without prices; call 1300 767 777 or visit the Liverpool showroom to ask about a model.

TENS machines in the range

Omron models are the HVF127 Standard, HVF021 Deluxe and HVF128 Premium TENS Therapy Devices. From TensCare there is the perfect TENS, supplied as a bundle with your choice of the iSock or iGlove, and the perfect mamaTENS, which TensCare designed for use during labour. The TensCare perfect BEAUTY is an EMS (electrical muscle stimulation) device with its own face and breast electrode pads.

Healthdirect lists situations where TENS should not be used, such as by people with a pacemaker or other implanted heart device or with epilepsy, and recommends advice from a health professional before first use, including on settings and where to place the pads.

Pelvic floor trainers

A pelvic floor trainer is a home device used with an internal probe. Most in this range use electrical stimulation, while the iEase uses an inflatable probe instead. Continence Health Australia has information on pelvic floor exercises for women and men.

TensCare Elise 2

The TensCare Elise 2 sends electrical muscle stimulation to the pelvic floor through a vaginal probe. Its product description lists four pre-set programs, a backlit screen, a memory function and a rechargeable battery charged by USB. An anal probe is sold separately.

Sure PRO, itouch sure and iEase

The Sure PRO and itouch sure are other TensCare pelvic floor exercisers. The iEase Biofeedback Pneumatic Pelvic Floor Exerciser has a Test mode and a Train mode and works with an inflatable probe rather than electrical stimulation.

Probes, pads and spare parts

Spares are listed by the device they suit. They include Liberty vaginal, Liberty Probe Mini, Liberty Loop and Liberty Fit anal probes, large (50 x 90mm) and square (50 x 50mm) electrode pads, perfect mamaTENS pads, replacement leads for each device, Li-ion batteries for the Elise and Sure PRO, chargers and cradles, a carry case and a belt clip.

Before you buy

  • Get advice first: ask your GP, physiotherapist or continence professional which type of device, if any, suits you.
  • Check the register: you can search the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) by product name.
  • Read the instructions: follow the instructions for use supplied with the device.

This category sits within therapy and sensory. Pads, pull-ups and bed protection are in continence aids, and our article on types of incontinence covers the background. Some Omron units also include massage-style modes; for other options see our massagers. For NDIS participants, what a plan covers is decided by the NDIA; our guide to NDIS funding explains how buying works.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a TENS machine and an EMS device?
A TENS machine sends small currents through the skin to stimulate nerves. An EMS device stimulates muscles. The TensCare perfect BEAUTY is an EMS device, and the Elise 2 pelvic floor trainer uses EMS through a probe rather than skin pads.
Can I use a TENS machine while pregnant?
Healthdirect advises contacting your physiotherapist, GP or midwife for advice before using TENS if you are pregnant. The perfect mamaTENS is designed for use during labour, so talk it through with your midwife or doctor before you buy.
Which pelvic floor trainer does not use electrical stimulation?
The iEase Biofeedback Pneumatic Pelvic Floor Exerciser works with an inflatable probe instead of electrical stimulation. The Elise 2, Sure PRO and itouch sure use electrical stimulation. A continence professional can advise which approach suits you.
Do you stock replacement pads for my TENS machine?
We list large and square TensCare electrode pads and pads for the perfect mamaTENS and perfect BEAUTY. Call 1300 767 777 with the make and model of your machine and we will check which pads fit, or visit the Liverpool showroom.
