Pressure cushions for wheelchairs and seats
A pressure cushion is designed to spread a seated person's weight over a larger area, so less of it rests on the bony points of the bottom and hips. The Wheelchair & Seat Cushions range at Allcare Warehouse includes air cell, polymer, gel and foam cushions from ROHO, Jay, ACTION® and Otto Bock, along with everyday cushions for chairs, cars and commodes. Products are shown without prices, so call 1300 767 777 or visit our Liverpool showroom.

ROHO Airlite Cushion
Wheelchair cushion types by material
ROHO cushion range (air cells)
A ROHO cushion uses interconnected neoprene air cells that adjust to the person's shape, with the air pressure set on most models. Options include the Single Valve and Quadtro in 60mm and 100mm heights, the Contour Select and Enhancer with contoured cell layouts, the Hybrid Elite and Nexus Spirit with foam bases, the Harmony and Mosaic, and the Airlite, which has a sealed, pre-set air pad.
Jay cushions (foam and fluid)
Jay cushions pair a contoured foam base with a Jay Flow fluid pad in the rear seat well. The Jay 2 and Jay 2 Deep Contour are designed for moderate to high postural and pressure care needs, and the J2 Plus for bariatric users. The Jay Easy and Jay Lite are lightweight options, and the Jay Basic is a moulded foam cushion for people at low risk of skin breakdown.
Gel cushion and polymer options
A gel cushion uses a gel or polymer layer that moulds to the body. ACTION® cushions use AKTON® polymer: the Commuter, Pilot, Centurion, Xact and Shear Smart cover users described as low to high risk. Other gel options include the Relax Duogel, Relax Easy, SAF Pink, SAF Pink/Grey and the Water Gel Foam Cushion.
Otto Bock Floam cushions
The Otto Bock Cloud and Advantage use replaceable Floam cells on a foam base: 14 cells in the Cloud, for high pressure relief and positioning needs, and eight in the Advantage, for active users needing medium to high pressure care.
Coccyx cushion and everyday seat cushions
A coccyx cushion has a cutout at the back so the tailbone (coccyx) is not pressed on. Ours is soft open cell foam with a removable cotton cover. This group also includes the Foam Ring and Convoluted Foam Ring cushions, the Posture Wedge, the All Purpose Cushion, the Silicone Fibre Seat Pad, the Neptune, the LTV air cushion for travel and the Obus Forme Seat Support for car seats.
Commode cushions
The ROHO Commode Cushion, ACTION® Polymer Commode Ring Cushion and Silicone Fibre Commode Ring Cushion are made to sit on a commode seat. See our commodes for frames.
Choosing a pressure cushion
Match the cushion to the person's risk level, posture needs and weight, and to the chair it will sit on. Check the listed height and maximum user weight, and measure the seat of the wheelchair. An occupational therapist or seating clinician can advise for a person at high risk, and Healthdirect explains the warning signs of pressure injuries. Our guide to pressure care cushions and mattresses and our list of common pressure cushion mistakes are worth reading first. For heels and elbows, see heel protectors, or browse the wider pressure care range. You can compare cushions at our Liverpool showroom.
