Washable bed pads
Continence Health Australia lists bed and chair products such as reusable or disposable pads with a waterproof backing, fitted waterproof mattress and pillow protectors, and absorbent sheets. Washable incontinence bed pads are made to go through the wash and back onto the bed. The KYLIE range includes several options, described by the maker as soft, latex free and dermatologically tested:
- KYLIE Supreme Mac: waterproof backing and tuck-ins, including a 1 x 1m size rated at 2500ml.
- KYLIE Supreme: tuck-ins but no waterproof backing, so the maker advises using it with a separate waterproof draw sheet.
- KYLIE Standard: waterproof backing without tuck-ins, also made with a non-slip backing.
- Icare Absorbent Bed Pads: 90 x 90cm and three layers, rated at 2 litres over 8 hours, with or without tuck-in flaps.
Draw sheet options
A draw sheet is a smaller sheet laid across the middle of the bed, over the bottom sheet. Kylie Draw Sheet Standard is 152 x 90cm and the double is 140 x 152cm, both waterproof. The Kylie Draw Mac 100 x 100cm combines an absorbent pad with a waterproof backing and tuck-ins, which the maker says removes the need for a separate plastic draw sheet.
Disposable underpads
Underpads are single-use pads for beds and chairs that are thrown away after use. Depend Underpads are 550 x 395mm with a moisture-proof backing, and the Lille Classic Bed Pad is 60 x 90cm with a polyethylene waterproof backing, rated at 1500ml. They are handy for travel or wherever washing is not practical.
Chair pads and seat protection
The KYLIE Chair Pad is washable and non-slip, and can be used on any chair or in the car. Icare Absorbent Seat Pads are 53 x 56cm with a waterproof bottom layer, rated at 500ml over 8 hours.
