Dencorub creams and gels

The heat formulas are based on methyl salicylate: Dencorub Regular Strength Heat Cream contains 20%, and the clear Extra Strength Heat Gel contains 26%. Dencorub Penetrating Arthritis Cream uses 10% triethanolamine salicylate instead. Dencorub Dual Action Pain Relieving Cream goes on cold and then warms up, and Dencorub describes it as non-greasy and quickly absorbed. At the cold end, Dencorub Sports Ice Gel comes in 150g, while the other creams and the heat gel are 100g.

Dencorub heat patches

Dencorub Pain Relieving Heat Patches are self-adhesive and come in packs of three or six. If you are comparing them with braces, supports and reusable hot and cold packs, the aids for pain relief guide looks at those options side by side.

Frequently asked questions

Should I use heat or ice on a new sprain?

Healthdirect recommends rest, ice, compression and elevation for sprains and strains, with a cold pack on the injury for 20 minutes at a time, several times a day, and never ice straight on the skin. It adds that a doctor may advise against using any heat on the injured area, so check with your doctor or pharmacist before using a heat product on a fresh injury.

Is there a Dencorub cream without the heat rub smell?

Yes. Dencorub positions its Penetrating Arthritis Cream for people who do not want a sporty smell at the office, and describes it as free of the odour and heat of traditional heat creams and gels. Its active ingredient is triethanolamine salicylate rather than the methyl salicylate used in the heat cream and gel.

Which Dencorub products are listed for the back?

The heat patches are listed for backache (lumbago), along with muscular aches, sprains and strains. Regular Strength Heat Cream lists back pain, and the Dual Action cream lists aches of the muscles and joints linked with backache. Whichever you choose, read the label for directions and warnings before using it.
