Bepanthen antiseptic and first aid creams
Two creams are stocked, each in two tube sizes. Bepanthen Antiseptic Soothing Cream, in 50g and 100g, is labelled multi-purpose, for cuts, abrasions, chafed or cracked skin, scalds, insect bites, chapped hands and sunburn, and Bepanthen calls it gentle enough for baby skin. Bepanthen First Aid Cream, in 30g and 100g, is listed for minor cuts, wounds, abrasions, insect bites and minor burns, and has a smooth consistency for gentle application.
Nappy rash, scar and tattoo care
Also filed under children's care, Bepanthen Nappy Rash Ointment comes in 30g and 100g tubes. Bepanthen says it contains provitamin B5 (dexpanthenol) and forms a long lasting, breathable, waterproof barrier. Bepanthen Scar Treatment is a 20g silicone gel with a built-in massage roller, labelled for new scars once the wound has closed and for older scars. The 50g Tattoo Aftercare and Protection Ointment is dermatologically tested and also contains pro-vitamin B5.

Frequently asked questions
When should a doctor look at nappy rash?
Healthdirect says frequent nappy changes, careful cleaning and a barrier cream almost always help nappy rash heal. It advises seeing a doctor if the rash does not improve after home care, is getting worse, blisters or breaks the skin, or if your baby has a fever or seems unwell. In this range, the barrier product is Bepanthen Nappy Rash Ointment.
Is Bepanthen First Aid Cream fragrance free?
Yes. Bepanthen describes its First Aid Cream as free from all colours and fragrances. The Antiseptic Soothing Cream listings do not make the same statement, so if you are avoiding fragrance, the First Aid Cream is the one whose listing confirms it.
Can Bepanthen Antiseptic Soothing Cream be used while breastfeeding?
Bepanthen lists the care of a mother's cracked or damaged nipples during breastfeeding among the uses of its Antiseptic Soothing Cream. If nipple pain or damage continues, speak with your doctor, midwife or child health nurse, who can help work out the cause.
