Avent bottles and teats

Natural bottles have a wide, breast-shaped teat, which Philips Avent says makes it easier to combine breast and bottle feeding, and come in plastic from 125mL to 330mL or in borosilicate glass at 120mL and 240mL. Anti-Colic bottles come in 125mL and 260mL sizes, in packs of one, two or three, with an anti-colic valve designed to keep air away from the baby's tummy. Replacement teats are labelled by flow and age, from Newborn Flow at 0m+ through slow, medium and variable flow to Fast Flow at 6m+. Formula itself is stocked under infant and toddler formula.

Breastfeeding and expressing

For expressing, there is the Philips Avent Natural Breast Pump Manual, the Ultra Comfort Single Electric Breast Pump, and a single and a double electric pump, both corded. Nipple shields and nipple protectors are made of ultra-thin silicone in small, medium and standard sizes. The Breast Shell Set pairs ventilated shells with shells that collect excess breast milk. Breast pads come as disposable packs of 24 or 60, or as six washable pads with a laundry bag.

Soothers and bottle care

Soothers are sized by age, mostly 0 to 6 months, 6 to 18 months and 18 months plus, in Ultra Air, Ultra Soft, FlexiFit, Animal and Translucent designs. Ultra Air Night soothers glow in the dark. Between feeds, the Fast Bottle Warmer also warms baby food and has a defrost setting, and a drying rack and bottle brush handle cleaning.

Frequently asked questions

How long do baby bottles need sterilising?

Pregnancy, Birth and Baby advises washing and sterilising feeding bottles until your baby is 12 months old, and sterilising again any bottle not used within 24 hours. For steam sterilising, the range has a Microwave Steam Steriliser that holds up to four bottles, 3-in-1 and 4-in-1 electric sterilisers, and microwave steriliser bags sold five to a pack, good for 100 cycles.

Which Avent products help with feeding away from home?

The Philips Avent Thermabag has an insulating lining that keeps hot water warm, or keeps cold formula, breast milk or baby food cool. The Milk Powder Dispenser carries three pre-measured portions of formula powder in separate compartments, ready to pour into a bottle of pre-boiled, cooled water, and its inner sections lift out to use as a bowl.

Which Avent cup suits my baby's age?

Most cups carry a starting age. Spout cups with handles come at 6m+ (200mL), 12m+ (260mL) and 18m+ (340mL). My Easy Sip Cup starts at 6m+, the Bendy Straw Cup and Grown Up Cup at 9m+, and the Easy Sip Cup 12m+ holds 260mL. The 300mL Straw Cup and My Grippy Hard Spout Cup have no age label, though the Grippy cup is shaped for toddlers learning to drink on their own.
